Photo Wallpaper Installation

Before installing
The surface must be clean and level. It is a good idea to paint the wall to be wallpapered with the same shade of paint as the wallpaper will be, this will prevent the white wall from shining from the edges of the wallpaper years, e.g. if the installation happens to miss the seam of the years. Painted surfaces should be roughened with sandpaper and washed with a paint wash. Highly absorbent surfaces should be primed or pre-treated with glue.

Wallpaper installation
Comes with glue for non-woven wallpapers. Apply the adhesive evenly to the wall with a roller, for example. Apply the adhesive only to a width of 1-3 years so that it does not have time to dry too quickly.

Use a vatupass to help get the start off vertically. Remove air bubbles from under the wallpaper with a wallpaper brush or roller. Wipe off any glue that has come to the surface of the wallpaper immediately with a damp sponge or cloth. Do not rub the surface.

Equal Or Shift Alignment And Other Considerations

The leak went awry

Paper-based wallpaper breaks easily, so you shouldn’t try to flip it straight. Peel off the wallpaper and start over. If necessary, you can set the fiber wallpaper in a new position on the wall as well.

Even or shift alignment

The hairs of the alignment wallpaper are always cut from the same pattern point and fixed to the wall by always aligning the pattern with the previous pattern.

In the alignment wallpaper, the hides are cut so that every other year is always the same. The first leak is spread on the table, the roll is placed side by side, and the point where the pattern is applied is sought, after which the leak of the correct length is cut. It is good to number the years as the first and second years. According to the models, the required number of years is cut off. Remember the correct mounting order!

Wallpaper markings

Do not reverse the direction of the wallpaper when you wallpaper, unless otherwise noted.

Do not rush

It is a good idea to set aside a weekend for wallpapering, and before that do the groundwork carefully.

Do not spare glue, as glue-free areas appear as bubbles on the walls.

What Are the Differences Between Paper, Vinyl, And Nonwovens Wallpapers?

Paper wallpaper is attached with glue. After applying the paste, the wallpaper is allowed to cure for a moment horizontally before installation. Installing paper wallpaper requires a little more precision and adherence to the correct wetting time to achieve a good result. Use a paste for paper wallpaper.

Vinyl wallpapers are paper-based and are attached to the wall with glue. The surface of the vinyl wallpaper has a film that makes it a better dirt-repellent and mechanically wear-resistant option. Use a paste for vinyl wallpaper.

NonWoven wallpapers, i.e. fiber wallpapers, are made of polyester cellulose fiber. Fiber wallpapers can be attached by first applying the glue directly to the wall and placing the wallpaper on top of the glue.

Wallpaper installation is quite nice and easy. It does not stretch or store moisture, so it does not need to be hydrogenated. If the leak happens to go skewed right at the beginning, you can set the fiber wallpaper to a new position on the wall as well. Use a nonWowe wallpaper paste

Check that all the rolls are the same weight and that the wallpaper is flawless!

The countertop / wallpaper table is clean and the necessary tools are at hand!

The best wallpapering wall is solid, flat, clean, dry and absorbent. Remove the old wallpaper for best results. Smooth out any cavities and unevenness, roughen painted surfaces, pre-glue or prime porous surfaces (eg with Tikkurila Varma primer).

If the background to be wallpapered differs significantly from the color tone of the wallpaper, it is a good idea to prime the wall to the same color or, alternatively, only the backgrounds of the new wallpaper seams can be painted.

Start wallpapering away from the window. Mark the place of the first year on the wall with a bullet wire and a pencil. Mark the location of the leak each time you move to a new wall. Fold the top of the spout open and fasten it so that a few cm goes over the roof molding. Make sure the leak comes straight. Release the bottom of the hose and secure it with a wallpaper brush, roller or spatula. Flatten from center to edges. Attach the next spill to the butt joint, ie the edges facing each other, unless the roll label mentions a couple of millimeters of glue joint.

Angles: Measure how far the distance from the previous year is to the angle. Cut the new hive so wide that it extends 2-3 cm beyond the outer corner. The next leak (the part cut off from the previous leak) is pressed over the part that crosses the corner so that the leak is less than a couple of miles from the corner. Do the inside corner as well. After the corner, mark a straight line on the next wall according to the split hose and attach the hose according to the line – not the corner. Finishing: Cut the top and bottom edges of the wallpaper neatly with a sharp carpet knife or cutter. Use a long ruler as a guide. Sockets and switches: Take care of electrical safety – power off. Wallpaper over a hole in the circuit breaker or socket. Cut off the extra part while the wallpaper is still moist. Replace the circuit breakers and sockets.

How much wallpaper is needed?

Measure the perimeter of the room, reduce the proportion of doors and windows. Also measure the height of the room. The most common room height is 2.50-2.65 m.
Divide the perimeter of the room by the width of the wallpaper leak (0.52 m) to get the amount of leak you need. Increase the amount required for window and door covers.

Room circumference is 12 m, room height 2.50 m.

Wallpaper spoon width 0.52 m, roll length 10 m. (Check roll width)

12 is divided by 0.52 = 23 leaks and 10 is divided by 2.50 = 4 leaks / roll

23 divided by 4 = 6 rolls (23 divided by 3 = 8 rolls)

Pattern alignment easily drops the number of hides to three. (calculated in parentheses)

P.S. if the room has a lot of hard-to-measure spaces, then prefer to book one roll extra. In this case, possible wastes caused by the pattern, and a small risk of incorrect cutting or fastening are taken into account.
